yesterday, i spent much of the day putting up Christmas decorations. it was so enjoyable-having the Christmas music playing, and just putzing around with no pressure to rush. i can remember years when i was working full time when i was thrilled to have decorations up by the end of the first week of december! i remember one year when we were super busy the whole month of december (at work) that i didn't get the tree up until december 16 and i was crying and feeling so sorry for myself as i put up the tree all by myself. so this year, i totally enjoyed the process. the trees aren't up yet, but most of the other stuff is. jared came home in the afternoon, with his/tom's pickup and so we went out and bought the trees. with tom's knee messed up, i needed j's muscles! he threw both trees in the back of the pickup and tom didn't have to hassle with tying them on the durango. tom put them in the stands and they are on the front porch waiting to be carried in. he said that when he cut the bottom off the larger tree, half the needles were on the ground. lovely. both trees felt so soft and pliable that i thought i had done a good job of picking...but i guess not. i think we may cave next year and buy artificial. i do love the smell of fresh.
i have been asking jared to go through his boxes in the basement. when we moved to this house, j was a sophmore in college and didn't have time to sort through his stuff from the lakehouse. so i finally just threw it all in boxes and we moved it all. yesterday he sorted through all his boxes and we took 2 large garbage bags and 2 large boxes to goodwill. he found his good golf shoes and several pairs of basketball shoes that he was happy to have again. the boys loved having jared here. the three of them hung out in the basement for a long time. i wish i would have taken some pictures. i did finally get some of grif yesterday. he is rarely in the mood. he fell on monday and skinned under his nose, but that's part of his charm...right?
the time with them here really has been precious.
it was a wonderful mail day yesterday. i love good mail. there's nothing like it, in my opinion.
here's what i found under the wrappings-
melissa made the card with the gorgeous stitched flower stem, the adorable pillow and custom notecards! i can't even believe what a lucky/blessed girl i am! thanks kl and m!
my plan for the blog in the month of december, is to continue sharing the normal stuff and hopefully share lots of holiday stuff too. i adore Christmas so much, that i can't not include it everyday in december!
does anyone have a good recipe for indian cuisine? i had a recipe for curry chicken, but i haven't located it yet. anyone? i have not had the best luck with googled recipes, so i'm hoping you can help me out. we have a missionary from india coming to speak at church sunday and we're planning a potluck with indian cuisine. if you can help me out, i would be so grateful! thanks!
one more thing. if you could say a prayer for brooke and jared's grandma kitzelman, we would really appreciate it. mark called last night and told us she is in ICU with heart problems. she is a dear lady, who has always treated tom and i wonderfully. the kitzelman family has endured so much sickness and loss in the past few years, i just hate to see them facing this now. thanks so much. and God bless you and your families.
